CAD Modeling
The fist step in creating a virtual model of a product or assembly is to create a Computer Aided Design (CAD) model. CAD models can be simple 2-dimensional outlines of the product, for something such as a flat gasket, or represended in 3-dimensions, for practically anything else. The power of CAD systems over the past 20 years has been increasing at an amazing rate. At 3dyn, we rely on two, industry leading, design software packages. For our high end work, which rely on (unigraphics) NX sofware, with advanced surfacing capabilities, for developing Class-A surfaces in automotive and consumer product projects. For the general mechanical projects, we use Solidworks software, due to it's nearly ubiquitous use in the industry.
Our CAD designers are skilled in reverse engineering, working from scan data to recreate a legacy or competitors product, as well as interpreting industrial design sketches and renderings, to create 3D representions of 2D images. In CAD, complete assemblies can be created, virtually fitting together a complete set of different components, to test for interference, toleranes, and full assembly masses, prior to creating your first prototype.

3dyn is able to accept nearly and form of existing CAD data. Typical file formats that are standard in the industry are .DXF, .IGES, .STP, as well as Parasolids. Naturallly, since use both NX and Solidworks software in-house, we are able accept their native files. We are also able to export these same formats, as well as creating engineering drawings, either in printed or PDF form, for use in manufacturing.
High resolution renderings can also be created, showing the product in a painted, or natural material form, showing light and shading, to better represent your product, without having to create a prototype first.

Graphic images can be placed on CAD surfaces to give the impression of painted graphics or realistic textures. Axio logo pack or the Repsol Moto GP Team.
